Students will be graded on the following three standards throughout the semester. Each standard is listed first followed by a description of what a 3 (the expectation) or 4 (going above expectations) for that standard would look like.
Interpretive Reading/Listening – Students will understand spoken language and written materials on familiar topics that have strong visual support.
4: Students will understand and identify vocabulary presented in class as well as vocabulary that has not been introduced in class, but follows the patterns that have been taught.
3: Students will be able to correctly understand and identify vocabulary presented in class.
Presentational Speaking/Writing – Students will create products using the written language and use spoken language by participating in songs, conversations and skits.
4: Students will be able to use both written and spoken language that contains additional information not presented in class with no significant errors affecting comprehension.

Cultural Understanding/Comparisons – Students will explore people, places and events that are significant in the Hispanic culture. Students will understand the concept of culture as they compare other cultures to their own.
4: Students will be able to accurately compare and contrast life in Hispanic countries with life in the United States , in addition to identifying significant Hispanic people, places and events. Students will be able to note additional cultural points not presented in class.
3: Students will be able to make comparisons between life in Hispanic countries and life in the United States and identify significant Hispanic people, places, and events.
